Journey
Growing up a freeway ride away from Hollywood, and mesmerized by music and theater and comedy, Kevin left behind his Poli Sci aspirations to pursue theatre. Graduating from the prestigious UC San Diego MFA Acting Program, Kevin has performed at South Coast Rep, Denver Center, along with plays in NYC and Copenhagen. Inspired by comedic heroes Phil Hartman and Steve Martin, Kevin found his comedy home at The Groundlings Theater, playing for 18 months in the weekly Sunday Company and then as a Senior Instructor and a recurring guest player in the longform Crazy Uncle Joe Show. Recurring appearances on Modern Family, Grey’s Anatomy, The Unicorn, Reno 911 and other network shows have solidified Kevin’s well-rounded acting journey, along with studying over a decade and a half with Steppenwolf West.
It didn’t come easy. Despite the joy of ensemble that Kevin loved so much, and the spirit of creation and being onstage, the challenging parts were the constant job seeking, the battle for validation, and self-doubt in a business full of opportunity and ego. That’s why Kevin, after decades as a working actor and on-set acting coach and lifelong student of the theatre, insists that we must find the JOY and PLAY in improv and acting as a sanctuary…an antidote to the inevitable rejection and comparing. Excellence through ease, repetition, and immersion in the craft which leads to both personal success and prosperity.
